  • Senejac 2009 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93)

This is a major sleeper of the vintage and the finest Senejac I have tasted. The team from Pontet Canet, who have done such a phenomenal job at that estate, were in charge of making this Senejac, and the result, not surprisingly, is a sensational wine that consumers need to buy by the case. Dense purple, with notes of creme de cassis, incense, licorice and forest floor, this wine is delicious and full-bodied, with sweet tannins, low acidity, copious fruit and exceptional concentration. Everything is in balance, and the wine is capable of lasting 10 or more years.

Full medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, mint, wild herbs and menthol, plus a strong note of licorice pastille. Tightly wound and backward; comes across as drier than the Gevrey cuvées. (production was barely half of a normal crop): Bright, dark red; these 2016s all have inviting limpid colors. Slightly reduced aromas of red berries, mocha and soil. Fleshier and more concentrated than the Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes, with its sweet dark fruit and spice flavors cut by musky minerality. At once silkier and more backward than the Millandes, finishing with substantial ripe tannins. With its rocky complexity, this wine reminded me of a mini-Bonnes Mares.

  • Senechaux Chateauneuf Du Pape 2022 (12x37.5cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (93)

I love the wines from this estate, which always shine for their incredible perfume and complexity. Exotic red and black fruits, lavender, basil, peppery garrigue, and sandalwood notes define the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape, which is based on 58% Grenache, 24% Syrah, and 18% Mourvèdre that was brought up mostly in larger foudre but with a small part in used barrels. With medium to full-bodied richness, a silky, elegant mouthfeel, present tannins, and outstanding length, this beauty is well worth your time and money. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12 years.

  • Senejac 2010 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (89)

Another sleeper of the vintage, Senejac’s 2010 (a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc with a touch of Petit Verdot) exhibits wonderful intensity, an opaque purple color, and opulent blackberry and blueberry fruit along with hints of charcoal, white chocolate and graphite. This lush, heady, rich wine is a considerable over-achiever from this property in the northern Medoc that can be drunk over the next 6-8 years.

    James Suckling (92-93)

This shows density and structure for a 2015 with ripe tannins and bright fruit character. Full body. Chewy texture. Extremely well done for Médoc.
  • Senejac 2018 (1x300cl)
    (1x300cl) 2018

    James Suckling (92-93)

The purity of the fruit is very pretty with so much blueberry and blackcurrant character. Medium-to full-bodied. Both the acidity and the tannins are bright and fresh.
  • Senejac 2019 (12x75cl)

    James Suckling (92-93)

A firm, chewy red with blackberry and light coffee character. Medium to full body. Solid structure.

  • Senejac 2020 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (89)

The 2020 Sénéjac has held on to that seaweed tinged bouquet, with plenty of attractive blackberry and bilberry fruit, a strong estuarine influence at play here. The palate is medium-bodied, a little leaner than its peers, quite tensile though with a fresh, delineated finish. It has a spring in its step and it should drink well for 12-15 years.

The 2021 Sénéjac opens with strong Cabernet inflections. Deep and also quite sturdy, Sénéjac is promising. Pipe tobacco, cedar, mint, spice and dried herbs linger on the somewhat rustic finish. Let's see how this comes together.

  • Serafin Pere & Fils Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes 2013 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (90+)

Full medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, mint, wild herbs and menthol, plus a strong note of licorice pastille. Tightly wound and backward; comes across as drier than the Gevrey cuvées. Very pure and high-pitched but distinctly rigid today. Strong tannins saturate the front teeth and incisors. Tough going today and in need of patience.

  • Serafin Pere & Fils Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes 2016 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (90-92)

(production was barely half of a normal crop): Bright, dark red; these 2016s all have inviting limpid colors. Slightly reduced aromas of red berries, mocha and soil. Fleshier and more concentrated than the Morey-Saint-Denis Les Millandes, with its sweet dark fruit and spice flavors cut by musky minerality. At once silkier and more backward than the Millandes, finishing with substantial ripe tannins. With its rocky complexity, this wine reminded me of a mini-Bonnes Mares.
