Rich in flavour and elegance, the Ganevat Cotes Du Jura Cuvee Julien 2022 is a lustrous vintage produced in the fabled winelands of Jura, France. This exquisite blend typifies Jean-François Ganevat's meticulous mastery. Jean-François, a winemaking doyen hailing from a family with an illustrious 350-year viniculture pedigree, combines biodynamic farming with ancient local techniques to imbue his wines with unparalleled distinction.

Each bottle captures the pure essence of Jura's diverse terroir. Marne blue schist for structure, calcareous clay for delicate finesse and limestone-infused soil for mineral-based vibrancy converge in a single, sublime sip. Handpicked, naturally fermented grapes, aged in foudres for 24 months, create a vibrant palate boasting crisp, zesty undertones delicately balanced with round, full-bodied notes.

The Ganevat Cotes Du Jura Cuvee Julien 2022 is an indelible testament to the artistry of Jean-François Ganevat, demonstrating the charm and elegance of Jura's fascinating vinous landscape. A luxurious investment in your fine wine collection.

Wine Advocate (94-96)

This is a stunning wine. This dark ruby colored beauty displays a beguiling nose of roses, violets, perfume, and candied red fruits that is followed by a super-ripe (sur-maturite!), unbelievably classy, and splendidly balanced character. Its mouth-coating, powerful (yet elegant), rich, and plump flavor profile is jam-packed with red and black fruits, flowers, and silky tannins that persist throughout its defined and amazingly long finish. This magnificent wine is a testimony to Meunier's dedication, work-ethic, and huge talent. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012+. Bravo!

Burghound (95)

This is also notably floral in character with a panoply of spice elements that add both depth and breadth to the cool cherry, raspberry and red currant aromas. As was the case with the Beaux Monts there is a spicy inner mouth perfume to the delicious and classy middle weight flavors that are shaped by sophisticated and very fine tannins, all wrapped in a mouth coating, focused and seriously persistent finish. A classic RSV.

Burghound (95)

A restrained but still wonderfully spicy nose consists of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, lavender and black cherry liqueur. The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. There is no doubting the quality of the underlying material and the length here is genuinely superb but it would be fair to observe that this is a very robust RSV. Patience will be required.

Vinous (96)

The 2016 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a beautifully defined bouquet. The fruit is darker than its peers: blackberry, boysenberry, hints of blueberry and crushed violet petals. This is quintessential Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and perfectly judged acidity. This is endowed with disarming structure and poise, fanning out beautifully towards the finish. A fabulous wine but it deserves a decade in the cellar. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (DIAM 10 closure)

There is a wealth of great French wine outside the ‘Big 4’ (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and Rhone). The Languedoc Roussillon with it’s herby, robust Mediterranean reds, Provence with its pale, vinous roses, Loire with its flinty Sauvignons, crunchy Cabernet Francs, and endlessly fascinating Chenins, Jura with its old fashioned curiosities… the list goes on. Tradition and terroir are the veins running through them all, making French wines still the most emulated in the world.
