  • Eric Rodez Ambonnay Grand Cru Empreinte Noir 2009 (3x75cl)
  • Eric Rodez Blanc de Noirs Brut NV (1x150cl)

    Jancis Robinson (18)

100% Pinot Noir blend based on 2013. Disgorged September 2018. Dosage 3.5 g/l. Tasted immediately after the all-Pinot Noir Roses de Jeanne 2017 and it's more obviously oaky and savoury on the nose. Rather like the stereotypical Bollinger with lots to chew on – meaty, stereotypically 'masculine'. Very complete and not remotely austere. Dense but also manages to be vibrant and refreshing. Cries out for something to nibble on at the same time, as recommended by the late Edmund Penning-Rowsell. QGV
  • Eric Rodez Coteaux Champenois Les Bouites 2018 (6x75cl)
  • Eric Rodez Cuvee Grands Vintages NV (6x75cl)

    Vinous (93)

Bright yellow-gold. An intriguingly perfumed nose evokes poached pear, orange zest, sweet butter and honey, along with a smoky quality and a chalky mineral overtone. Chewy, very deep citrus and orchard fruit flavors are complicated by suggestions of toasted brioche, white truffle and candied fig. Finishes very long and smoky, with resonating floral and mineral qualities. I'd serve this complex Champagne, which comprises wines from 15 different vintages dating back to 1995, with an indulgent, buttery poultry or shellfish dish.

  • Fleur de Miraval Exclusivement Rose ER1 NV (1x75cl)

    Andreas Larsson (95)

I must say that I was quite excited to taste the Champagne that everybody talked about, but no one tasted yet. A great reunion with my old friend, Rodolphe Péters whose champagne making skills are nothing less than exceptional. A ground-breaking style that blends Chardonnay from Côte de Blancs of which one part is the actual vintage, one part reserve wines and one part mature wines from bottle. The rosé part being Pinot Noir from Vertus made as a rosé de saignée blended just before bottling to keep the notion of youthful red fruity freshness. It shows a very gentle bright rosé colour and a vivid mousse with fine bubbles. The nose starts out elegantly – layered and nuanced with chalky notes, fresh hazelnut, marzipan, fresh butter, pink citrus and lemongrass. After some time in the glass the Pinot enters with aromas of crushed raspberry, cherry and pain d´épice. The palate is nicely built, showing great flavour intensity and an invigorating freshness. It´s classically bone dry (4,5 grams of dosage) with a chalky presence, balanced by a mellow creaminess. Flavours of marzipan, confit de citron and peach with layers of mature nuttiness and pastry. Elegantly built with great persistency and precision. Drinks truly well today but should certainly improve from further cellaring.

  • Fleur de Miraval Petite Fleur Brut Rose NV (1x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)

The NV Brut Rosé Petite Fleur (base 2021) is a very pretty wine. Sweet red cherry fruit, cranberry, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco lend lovely aromatic nuance. The 2021 base is a touch forward, so I would not push my luck on aging. Then again, the Petite Fleur is made for early drinking. The Petite Fleur comes across as a Rosé with a bit of bottle age. Readers who enjoy Rosés with that kind of slightly mature character will enjoy this quite a bit.
