Vinous (93-95)The 2022 Corton Grand Cru comes from a parcel within the lieu-dit of Le Charlemagne. It has quite a serious bouquet, tightly wound. This will need time to open but is extremely well-defined with a sense of Pinot classicism. It doesn't sing 'n dance. The palate is well-balanced, the 25% new oak seamlessly integrated, building discretely towards the beautifully poised finish. This Corton might be easily overlooked, but for me, it epitomizes how far this Grand Cru has improved in recent years. Wonderful. |

Despite its Grand Cru status, this should be pleasurable in its youth. |

This is the only cuvée from Magnien that, in hindsight, might have been picked a little earlier; it’s just a little overpowering on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, saturated tannins, moderate acidity and a chalky-textured finish of black currant and cassis fruit. Quite stocky at the moment. It should be afforded 5–6 years in bottle. |

The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and rounded in the mouth, leading to a sweet, candied orange peel and allspice-tinged finish. Quite seductive for a Corton. Give it 3–4 years in bottle. |

It has quite an elegant bouquet with black cherries, raspberry coulis and flecks of dark chocolate, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, more masculine than the aromatics suggest, with a saline/briny finish that I personally find attractive. Very fine. |
