Grivault’s monopole has produced a wine of superb concentration and depth, with rich aromas of ripe apple, peach and apricots touched with honey and a hint of reduction. The texture is lush and dense, with a finish that lingers sultry on the palate. Split between sand, silt and clay, the unique terroir of the clos gives grapes of extraordinary ripeness, pressed as whole clusters (without sulphur) and fermented in cask with minimal batonnage to give this nuanced, complex result.Inc. The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru reflects its terroir brilliantly on the nose, which offers aromas of wet limestone and flint, beautifully defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has more intensity on the nose than the Les Vergers, a little richer in style with touches of dried honey and wild peach. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with another quite citric entry, sharp and it sports just the right amount of bitterness, though perhaps the Les Vergers is more pixelated. Still, this is very fine.Inc. Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)
5 Star Wine. An even lemon and lime colour. Energy on the nose, not yet so much detail. The palate delivers its usual resounding success, a mass of pure white fruit which builds in intensity to the back and finishes with the lightest of toasty notes which is complementary. (1x75cl) 2017Vinous (93-95)
(the Moreaus have two 350-liter barrels of this wine, one of them new): Bright, light yellow. Classic high-pitched Chevalier-Montrachet aromas of lemon, lime, pear, white peach, lavender and white pepper. Densely packed but weightless, offering sharp definition and outstanding class to its flavors of lemon zest, crushed stone and mineral salts. This very dry, intense wine is quite tight but not hard, and its subtly mounting salty finish is hard to scrape off the palate. Alexandre Moreau will wait until at least next March to bottle this beauty.Inc. TAX€974.22 -

The 2018 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, which comprises three barrels this year, has an expressive bouquet of crushed stone mixed with Granny Smith apples and fleeting hints of white peach. The palate is supremely well balanced, delivering superb weight and penetration; the intense flavors of orange peel and sour lemon dovetail into discreet passion fruit and pawpaw notes toward the finish. Of course, there is outstanding mineralité throughout this Grand Cru. An awesome Chevalier-Montrachet.Inc. TAX€1,067.80 -
