Louis Latour dominate the appellation of Corton-Charlemagne, with 10ha under vine and lots of different aspects and altitudes to choose from in Aloxe-Corton. This has lovely floral scents that lead you into a palate that's rich, leesy and magisterial with notes of citrus, pear and banana bread, well-integrated new wood and a hint of stony reduction. Consistently the négociant's best white.

Wine Advocate (91-93+)

The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is also quite promising, exhibiting aromas of pear, buttered citrus fruit, honeycomb, toasted almonds and white flowers. Full-bodied, satiny and rich, with a fleshy core of fruit and good underlying freshness, I hope it can repeat this fine performance from bottle.

A very cool and tight Corton Charlemagne with the intense spice, bold structure and steeliness that we expect from this appellation. Staggering concentration, which at this early stage makes the wine slightly austere, but all this gives it great aging potential. Fantastic integration of oak, fruit and mineral acidity at the amazing finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

A magnificent white with such great depth of fruit and super intensity, showing flint, stone, nutmeg, thyme and light lemon rind. It’s so full with deep, deep depth that brings you down through the wine. Lasts for minutes. Needs at least four or five years to show what its full potential. Drink after 2024.

The 2019 Montrachet Grand Cru is promising, bursting with notes of pear, white flowers, citrus oil and toasted bread. Full-bodied, ample and layered, it's satiny and concentrated, with fine depth at the core and chalky grip on the finish.

Le Montrachet Grand Cru covers only 8 hectares between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. This particular area was known during the 13th century as ‘Mont Rachas’. ‘La rache’ in the Burgundian dialect is commonly known as ringworm, a skin disease that causes hair loss. This baldness gives its name to the bare and stony hillside, which grew only thorny bushes until vines were planted. The terroir of Montrachet is a notable exception because its brown soils, usually reserved for Pinot Noir, transform here the Chardonnay into one of the greatest white wines in the world. The east exposure captures sunlight later in the evening. These factors are critical to achieve optimal ripeness. Our grapes come from a parcel with an area of 0.80 hectares which extends from the top to the bottom of the slope in the central part of North Montrachet, situated on the Puligny-Montrachet side.

Ripe yet fresh and bright aromas are comprised by notes of citrus, sea breeze and more prominent mineral reduction nuances along with an interesting hint of honey. There is better volume if less refinement to the denser and vibrant medium weight flavors that flash focused power on the lightly stony, rich, delicious and zest-inflected finale. This too would benefit from developing better complexity so a few years of keeping should prove helpful.

5 Star Wine. Pale lemon yellow. Power once again is evident from the outset. But strict enough and with admirable tension at the back, the marine minerals doing their job. A wealth of flavour here and with real grip. This keeps building in the aftertaste. Excellent! Drink from 2026-2034.

Chapelot. One of the paler colours, with a much more chiselled nose. Concentrated white fruit, saline, crunchy, amazing intensity here, has avoided the sunny side up quality. Exceptional length. This should make a great bottle. Drink from 2028-2035. Tasted Jun 2024.

(from Montmains proper). This is aromatically similar to the straight Chablis with the addition of pretty floral top notes. The finer, and not quite as fleshy, medium-bodied flavors exude more evident minerality on the nicely energetic flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. This appealingly dry but not really austere effort could also use better depth so a few years of cellaring should be beneficial.

Burghound (91)

(from vines between 35 and 50 years of age evenly divided between parcels of Mélinots, Châtains and Roncières). A touch of reduction blurs the nuance of the markedly more floral-suffused nose that reveals additional notes of shellfish and just sliced citrus. The sleek, well-detailed and more refined middleweight flavors aren’t as powerful or rich yet I like the balance and overall sense of harmony. This understated effort is a Vaillons of finesse.
