The 1999 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru from Jean-Marc Roulot is poured from magnum. Silvery in hue and showing little age, it has a precise, Puligny-like bouquet with subtle scents of dandelion and wet stone. The terroir really shines through here. The palate is very saline on the entry that gets the taste-buds flowing, just a hint of crème brûlée and lemon peel furnishing the clean and precise finish. I suspect that the larger format here renders this a little more youthful than in bottle, but it is still an outstanding Meursault from Roulot, one that has many years ahead. The 2010 Meursault Perrières wraps around the palate with huge, seamless layers of fruit. It boasts stunning textural depth and pure richness from start to finish. There is so much sheer intensity of the fruit that the minerality appears virtually hidden. Although the density of the fruit is impressive, this isn't a particularly elegant or refined Perrières by Roulot standards, at least not today. Roulot explains that the Perrières was the last of his wines to finish its malolactic fermentation. Gently sun-kissed scents of Asian pear, white flowers and honeycomb introduce the 2017 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, satiny-textured and elegantly fleshy wine derived from the Clos de la Baronne, Crotot, Gruyaches and Sous la Velle; as that palette of lieux-dits implies, it's the most open-knit, gourmand and forward Meursault in the domaine's range. In Bond€347.00 -

(1x75cl) 2019Vinous (89)
As usual, 2019 Meursault Villages comes from several parcels including Clos de la Baronne, Sous la Velle and Crotot. It has a well-defined bouquet, a little spicier than previous vintages. Timid at first, but finds its voice with aeration. Hints of lemongrass and chai complement the citrus fruit. The palate is well balanced with good concentration and slightly waxy in texture. Fine depth with that spicy leitmotif return on the finish. Give this 18-24 months in bottle. In Bond€300.00 -

The 2020 Meursault Villages is bright, linear and sculpted. Jean-Marc Roulot did a terrific job in preserving freshness and verve in his village-level Meursault. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and crushed rocks are all laced together in this steely, nervy Meursault. The Villages is a blend of several parcels on the lower slopes of town; namely Clos de la Baronne, Gruyaches and Sous la Velle, plus a touch of young-vine fruit from Porusots Dessus. (6x75cl) 2021Vinous (90-92)
The 2021 Meursault Village has a lively, minerally, almost flinty bouquet that is beautifully focused. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, almost steely with a vigorous and persistent, saline finish. This is excellent and punches above its weight. Bravo. In Bond€2,310.00 -

The 2009 Meursault Charmes comes across as big and quite rich. Layers of fruit totally cover the palate in this textured, seamless Charmes. There is plenty of underlying minerality but the fruit is so huge it virtually covers all of the structural elements. The wine remains graceful and round through to the finish. This may need a number of years to show at its best, but it is stunningly beautiful. In Bond€3,140.00
