Full, concentrated village wine with moderate complexity and good grip. (I found the 2006 Bourgogne Blanc to be pure but almost exotically ripe for a wine from Ente; the atypical sweetness of the 2006 vintage appears to have favored his Aligote.) |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)Pale clear colour. A gentle fresh apple nose, this has notable tension on the palate, not a rich, ripe rounded Meursault – but that is not the intention anyway. The attack suggests that this is only just ripe, but the finish indicates that it was picked at a very good moment, otherwise you wouldn’t have this length of flavour. Fine tension to finish. |

Wine Advocate (92+)A beautiful wine, Ente's 2018 Meursault Clos des Ambres unwinds to reveal aromas of pear, orange oil, wheat toast, chamomile and subtle hints of praline. Medium to full-bodied, bright and incisive, with lively acids and chalky structuring extract, it's an elegant, nicely concentrated rendition of a cuvée that I've always particularly enjoyed chez Ente. I suspect it will develop very nicely with some time in bottle. |

Vinous (91-93)(these vines, which Ente says are 120 years old, produced just 14 hectoliters per hectare in 2015): Very bright, pale yellow. Riesling-like reduction to the very pure aromas of pineapple and lemon oil. Rich and chewy in the mouth, with the wine's seamless yellow fruit flavors giving a sweet impression that's nicely countered by a flavor of dusty stone. Ente noted that the ancient vines that he replanted when he started here go into his basic Meursault cuvée. With its bulletproof fruit and underlying minerality, this is a wonderfully plush and complete Meursault in the making. |
