Renowned for their unwavering commitment to excellence, Guy Amiot et Fils presents the Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2020, a testament to artisanal mastery in Burgundy’s esteemed terroir. Crafted from meticulously selected old vines, this Chardonnay exhibits remarkable depth and complexity. Hand-harvested from premier vineyards in Meursault, the grapes undergo gentle pressing in traditional presses and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve purity of fruit. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels, imparting subtle nuances of vanilla and toasted almond while maintaining the vibrant minerality characteristic of Meursault. The 2020 vintage benefits from an optimal growing season with ideal weather conditions, resulting in a harmonious balance of richness and acidity. On the palate, aromas of ripe citrus, white peach, and a hint of hazelnut unfold elegantly, leading to a long, refined finish with traces of flint and buttery undertones. Ideal for pairing with gourmet seafood or poultry dishes, Guy Amiot et Fils Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2020 exemplifies the pinnacle of fine Burgundian Chardonnay. |

Wine Advocate (95)The 2011 Meursault 1er Cru Porusot (spelled with an “s” not “z”!) comes from two parcels. It has a scintillating, vibrant mineral-driven bouquet stylistically equidistant between Puligny and Meursault. The palate is extremely well-balanced with immense precision, starting off with real race and drive and then easing back toward the finish that offers just a touch of spice. This is another superb Meursault ‘11 from Jean-Marc. Drink now-2025. |

Vinous (94)The 1999 Meursault Perrières 1er Cru from Jean-Marc Roulot is poured from magnum. Silvery in hue and showing little age, it has a precise, Puligny-like bouquet with subtle scents of dandelion and wet stone. The terroir really shines through here. The palate is very saline on the entry that gets the taste-buds flowing, just a hint of crème brûlée and lemon peel furnishing the clean and precise finish. I suspect that the larger format here renders this a little more youthful than in bottle, but it is still an outstanding Meursault from Roulot, one that has many years ahead. Tasted at Taillevent restaurant in Paris. |

Vinous (94)The 2010 Meursault Perrières wraps around the palate with huge, seamless layers of fruit. It boasts stunning textural depth and pure richness from start to finish. There is so much sheer intensity of the fruit that the minerality appears virtually hidden. Although the density of the fruit is impressive, this isn't a particularly elegant or refined Perrières by Roulot standards, at least not today. Roulot explains that the Perrières was the last of his wines to finish its malolactic fermentation. In my view it is a bit heavy, although the truth is that most growers would kill to have a wine like this in their cellars. |
