Tim Atkin MW (96)These domaine-owned vines average about 50 years in age. A few rows are even across the road, up against Musigny. As they say, it's a desirable neighborhood. Pretty cherry fruits mesh with kirsch on the nose. The palate is equally charming, adding crushed stone minerality to the mix. Sleek tannins and integrated, buoyant acidity focus the mid-weight palate into a lengthy, perfumed finish. 2024-40 |

Vinous (93-95)The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru blossoms in the glass: black cherries, blueberry, hints of date and pressed flowers and quite exuberant. It gains intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firmer tannins than the aromatics imply, solid and quite structured with decent depth on the finish. Whereas the bouquet is open, the palate politely invites you to be patient. Good potential. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)A slightly more sombre crimson purple. Evident whole bunches with crushed strawberries. Softly sensual on the palate, builds nicely to the back, some rose petals too. Very long and classy after all. Softer than some but with luscious appeal. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024. |

Wine Advocate (89-91)The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Baudes was picked on September 16 and includes 15% whole cluster. It has a very perfumed bouquet, refined and elegant with hints of violet and blueberry tincturing the red cherry fruit. The palate is crisp on the entry, a little tighter and sharper than the nose was implying and perhaps I was expecting a little more substance on the finish. Hopefully that will develop in time once bottled. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru has a very perfumed bouquet of brambly red berry fruit infused with pressed rose petal; touches of flint and bay leaf emerge with time. It seems to retract a little with aeration rather than expand. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin and quite linear in style, featuring a liberal sprinkling of white pepper and clove toward the finish. |

Vinous (91)Good dark red. Very shy nose hints at crushed stone, menthol, flowers and licorice. Then surprisingly round and charming in the mouth, with a distinctly silky, open-knit texture to the fat dark berry fruit. Not hugely complex but developing nicely. This should give pleasure early. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5+)Mid crimson. Scented and heady. Super charming. On the nose it’s almost Oregonian! But on the palate there is Burgundian structure. Still a clear framework and ambition; this is not a slack Charmes. Well done for espousing grand cru quality. Needs food if you want to drink it now. But just about ready. |

Wine Advocate (92)Drouhin's 2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe cherry and berry fruit that mingle with nuances of espresso, dried flowers and grilled meats, all framed by some toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a sappy core of nicely concentrated fruit, fine tannins and bright balancing acids. This is an elegant, racy Charmes-Chambertin that is somewhat reminiscent of the 2010 rendition. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru exhibits aromas of red cherries, potpourri, citrus rind and creamy new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and expressive, with an exuberant core of succulent, mouthwatering fruit that largely conceals a fine-grained framing of tannin. Giving and fruit-driven, this will drink well in its youth. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from contracted fruit sourced from the lieu-dit of Aux Charmes. Deep and noticeably limpid in color, it has a gorgeous, pure and sensual bouquet that shows more composure than the Corton Grand Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins and more backbone than the Corton. The lively, spicy, black pepper-tinged finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent. |

Decanter (95)This isn’t strictly speaking a domaine wine from Joseph Drouhin, but the contract with the Marquis de Laguiche is so long that it might as well be. Showing impressive concentration, yeasty, textured weight, delightful 25% new wood and notes of beeswax and lanolin, it finishes with freshness, minerality, commendable poise and some skin-tannin grip. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot, 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a slightly more tropical influenced bouquet compared to the Clos des Mouches Blanc, with passion fruit, nectarine and peach skin aromas. The palate is well balanced with hints of apricot and orange rind on the entry, a fine bead of acidity with ample depth and vigour on the finish. Superb. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)Picked between 2nd and 5th September. A very pretty clean lemon and lime. The oak is very well integrated into the classy nose. Plenty of energy but also light on its feet for Morgeot without betraying the appellation, and the fruit persists particularly well on the palate. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: November 2023. |

Fully ripe at the back of the palate yet still entirely harnessed. Ripe lemons and limes with some orchard fruit at the base. Long and extremely classy. Drink from 2030-2038. Tasted Nov 2024. |
