Ente's 2019 Bourgogne Blanc unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp orchard fruit, citrus zest, blanched almonds and bread dough. Medium to full-bodied, ample and elegantly textural, with racy acids and a precise, saline finish, this has turned out very well indeed.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (89-92)

(5-Star) 44 hl/ha. Palish lemon but no need to concentrate on the colour when the bouquet is quite so adorable. So detailed, little hints of verveine, spring flowers, apple blossom, fresh fruit, then riper on the palate, a little pineapple possibly, but not over exotic and finishes more on the classic apple and lemon stratum. Pale clear colour. A gentle fresh apple nose, this has notable tension on the palate, not a rich, ripe rounded Meursault – but that is not the intention anyway. The attack suggests that this is only just ripe, but the finish indicates that it was picked at a very good moment, otherwise you wouldn’t have this length of flavour. Fine tension to finish.

The 2018 Meursault Village opens in the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, mandarin oil, bread dough and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it's lively and precise, with a delicate but tightly wound core and a bright, mineral finish. As usual, this cuvée derives from two lieux-dits: En l'Ormeau on the plain (which is also the source of Ente's Clos des Ambres and Sève du Clos bottlings) and Les Casse-Têtes on the hillside, the vines having been planted in 1952-1953 and 1998, respectively.

Vinous (88-90)

(12.2% alcohol with 4.4 grams of acidity; cropped at 28 hectoliters per hectare): Cool aromas of lime and spearmint. Then surprisingly dense and sappy in the mouth, with brisk lemon and lime fruit flavors accented by gingery spices. Quite dusty and tactile for such a low-octane wine: it's difficult to find this style outside of Burgundy. Finishes floral and persistent.
