Vinous (95-97)The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is reduced to three and a half barrels this year, half the normal crop. It has a complex nose with dark berry fruit, forest floor and pressed flowers, beautifully-defined and gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is (again) supremely well balanced, quite peppery, with a silver bead of acidity. Darker fruit emerge towards the saline finish that is quite Mazoyères in style. Long tail on the finish. Divine. |

Vinous (87-89)Alas, there is very little of the 2021 Côtes de Nuits Villages (7 instead of 22 barrels). This has a clean and precise, quite minerally bouquet. The palate is sweet and pastille-like on the entry, smooth texture, perhaps just denuded the complexity of more benevolent seasons on the straightlaced finish. It will still give several years' drinking pleasure. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux has a very precise bouquet: cranberry, wild strawberry and cold slate aromas that feel very focused...aromas with intent! The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a crisp line of acidity, a mixture of red and black fruit here infused with blood orange and tangy Seville orange marmalade towards a feisty finish. There is superb length here. It is a really wonderful Les Corbeaux for long-term ageing. |

Fat, sweet, fine-grained and lush; in an elegant, even understated style, and not at all a powerhouse. But there's no shortage of tannic spine here. The silky texture carries through to the long finish. This is aging in 100% new oak, whereas most of the rest of the 2007s are getting about 70%, as Mortet is slowly but steadily cutting back on his use of new barriques |

Nothing flamboyant, nothing overstated here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, very harmonious, with a svelte texture and it positively glides toward the pure sorbet-like finish. The small number of owners will be glad they have some of this nectar - for me, one of the wines of the vintage. |

Wine Advocate (95-97)The 2014 Chambertin Grand Cru, around three barrels this year, is matured in 100% new oak and includes around 30% to 40% whole bunch fruit. It has a very energetic bouquet with intense, compelling undergrowth/sous-bois aromas, with hints of tree bark tincturing the blackberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and the fruit here soaks up that new wood easily, allowing the wine to maintain fine delineation and poise. Harmonious right to the finish; this is a very serious, very complex Chambertin with genuine aristocracy. |
