Vinous (95)Good medium red. Very ripe, soil-driven aromas of black raspberry and smoky minerality. Tactile, vibrant and deep; at once chewy and utterly silky. This compellingly dense grand cru really clings to the palate on the very long, ripely tannic finish. A fabulous combination of energy and flesh: this one hit my G-Spot. One for the cellar. Like the Charmes-Chambertin, this wine is bottled under the Domaine Christophe Roumier label. |

Silky-rich and classically dry, displaying excellent chewy depth of material in a very pretty package. Finishes very long, with suave, fine-grained tannins and lovely lift. Should be a beauty. |

Vinous (96)The 2017 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru is concentrated on the nose, offering raspberry, wild strawberry, crushed stone and then a potent but completely simpatico floral element suggesting rose petals and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed rocks infusing the mixture of red and black fruit; hints of black truffle and graphite come through with time. Serious and quite compelling. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. |

Vinous (94-96)The 2018 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has one of my favorite bouquets from Roumier this year, delivering heavenly scents of blueberry, violets and incense, all exquisitely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin, and quite precise and linear. Not a powerful or voluminous Ruchottes, but full of tension and mineralité on the finish. Excellent and cerebral. |
