The palate is very promising, offering dark berry fruit, good substance and candied orange peel toward the finish. The aromatics just have to open up by the time of bottling. In Bond€285.00 -
Vinous (90)
Bright red-ruby. Musky, reticent aromas of mocha, leather and earth. Enters the mouth silky and subtly sweet, with its currant and blackberry fruit flavors showing a slight leathery rusticity. Finishes with ripe tannins and sneaky length--and an inviting juiciness. In Bond€380.00 -
Vinous (89-91)
(40% vendange entier; 50% new oak; just six barrels were produced from one hectare of vines exposed to the combe influence): Bright, dark red. Dark cherry, dark berries and a hint of flowers on the nose. Sappy dark fruit flavors convey an impression of solidity, with an element of warm spices and smoky limestone extending the finish and supporting the wine's serious dusting of tannins. Liger-Belair feels that owing to low yields, many Nuits-Saint-Georges '16s from vineyards on the north side of the town are more burly and masculine than usual. In Bond€603.00 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte includes 40% whole cluster fruit. It has an expressive bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry preserve and crushed stone aromas, impressive for a village cru. The palate is standoffish at first, but opens up with aeration, turning smooth in texture; vanilla pod and orange pith pop up on the charming, quite forward finish. In Bond€1,100.00 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges La Charmotte has a charming bouquet of light red cherries, raspberry and orange zest, really approachable and yet nuanced. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannins and feels fresh and sapid, the whole bunch (40%) nicely integrated. A dash of black pepper appears on the finish. Very fine.In Bond€347.00
