The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée is fabulous, offering up a lovely bouquet of musk melon, citrus zest, vanilla bean and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a deep, layered mid-palate, succulent acids, excellent concentration and a long, searing finish. La Romanée is typically one of the rounder, more textural 1er Crus of Chassagne but at its best it also possesses a cool sense of reserve that this rendition exemplifies.Inc. TAX€2,917.68 -

Vincent Dancer's 2015 Meursault Les Corbins—from a lieu-dit on deeper soils near Volnay—opens in the glass with an expressive bouquet of peach, mirabelle plum and oatmeal. On the palate, the wine is ample and generously textural, but with the tension and succulent acidity to support it. This tends to be one of the more youthful, forward wines in Dancer's cellar, and the 2015 is no exception.Inc. TAX€355.15 -

Pale silver-lemon color. Aromas of lemon ice and minerals complicated by nuances of flowers and almond. At once penetrating and tactile, with juicy, very dry flavors of wet stone, menthol and spices conveying a strong impression of saline minerality. Boasts lovely density and class--and balanced from the start even if it will unwind over the next couple decades in bottle Dauvissat, who added yeasts to this wine due to the hail, said he'd wait ten years. (just 30 hectoliters per hectare produced; this was the first vineyard Dauvissat harvested--on September 2, the second day after the hail storm)Inc. TAX€1,220.24 -

The 2015 Charmes Chambertin les Mazoyeres Grand Cru offers up notes of red and black fruit, beetroot, earth and whole cluster spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and silky, with an expansive attack, a layered mid-palate and a long, saline finish. This is quite stylized, marked by whole cluster fermentation which seems to give it a high pH feel, but for admirers of this particular aesthetic—a perspective my score reflects—this should offer two decades of rewarding drinking.Inc. The 2015 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru currently shows a lot of reduction on the nose, although there is plenty of fruit packed behind. The palate is rounded on the entry with moderate acidity, but again, the reduction is suppressing the fruit at the moment. Yet it does convey a sense of purity, and the harmony is tangible behind that reductive veneer. Give this four or five years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.Inc. TAX€725.84 -

Pale, bright yellow. More feminine on the nose than the Valmur, offering aromas of citrus fruits, pear and white flowers plus a soupçon of oak spice. Very silky, seamless and refined but also shows terrific intensity and floral lift. Harmonious acidity leavens the density of this wine, giving it an almost weightless impression in the mouth. Perfectly integrated and balanced from the start. The impressively long, rising finish features piquant notes of citrus peel, minerals and flowers. I'd give this fine-grained beauty a good five years in the cellar before pulling the cork.Inc. TAX€140.64 -

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
