Bright, dark red. Subtly complex aromas of raspberry, blueberry, spices, minerals and soil. Silky, seamless and concentrated, with its atypical richness leavened by harmonious balancing acidity and a musky saline element. This terrific Feusselottes shows outstanding sappy energy and a long finish featuring suave tannins, a note of red licorice and excellent rising length. This should age slowly and gracefully. Dark medium red. Ineffable nose combines tight, wild red berries, musky animal nuances and a hint of torrefaction, enlivened by hint notes of wild mint and white pepper. Densely packed and chewy; a distinctly masculine wine with outstanding intensity and underlying structure. And yet the texture is silky too. This utterly palate-saturating wine finishes with explosive rising notes of red berries, game, licorice, pepper, mint and saline minerality and great perfumed persistence. The crop level from these old vines and small berries was between 30 and 35 hectoliters per hectare, as Bernstein routinely does multiple green harvests here to ensure that the clusters finish at roughly the same level of potential alcohol. Incidentally, Bernstein attempted to ensure freshness in his 2015s by using 80% whole clusters to balance the ripeness of the fruit.Inc. TAX€3,498.84 -

Bright, dark red; a bit more saturated than the Mazis. Knockout, slightly liqueur-like aromas and flavors of dark raspberry, boysenberry, rose petal, licorice and mint, complicated by musky soil tones. Pure silk on the palate but with its uncanny thickness of texture leavened by energy. This wonderfully tactile, savory wine saturates every square millimeter of the palate and finishes with powerful medicinal reserve and incredible building length. And yet there's no impression of weightiness here. This could be enjoyed right now with the right piece of meat, but I'd rather lay it down for eight or ten years.Inc. TAX€2,843.20 -

Full dark red. Pungent scents of raspberry, crushed rock and rose petal. At once silky, sappy and savory, conveying a captivating light touch and terrific inner-mouth tension to its sharply delineated red raspberry, pomegranate and crushed-rock flavors. Finishes with compelling mounting perfume and saliva-inducing briskness. Not at all a fleshpot for the vintage, this classy Charmes-Chambertin struck me as rather Chambolle-like.In Bond€628.00 -

The 2015 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has the most vivacious and intense bouquet amongst Christophe's 2015s, billowing red and dark cherries, creme de cassis, crushed violets and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and extremely well-judged acidity. As such, there is outstanding focus here and a sense of precision running all the way through to the finish. This is a seriously fine Mazoyères-Chambertin that must rank as one of the best this domaine has produced. In Bond€1,180.00 -

We found the wines in 2015 very easy and forward to taste, with as much focus on freshness as concentration, so there wasn’t a complete break from the 2014s in that sense. The hope is that as the wines mature they will continue to show the balance and classicism they displayed from the barrel. Our expectation is that they will do so and the best wines will live for a very long time with a genuinely satisfying pattern of maturation throughout their life.
