It has a lovely bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry and wild hedgerow scents, touches of iris flower emerging with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and velvety-smooth in texture. There is more density here on the finish, which shows touches of spice and marmalade and fans out nicely. This should evolve well in bottle. |

There is much more gusto on the nose compared to the Bonnes-Mares, with upfront, expressive red cherry, wild strawberry and cold stone aromas, later complemented by wilted rose petals and bay leaf. The palate is medium-bodied, but there is much more body and presence here compared to the Bonnes-Mares: fine tannin, just the right amount of salinité with a complex and sustained finish. There is a nobility about this Musigny, and that is what we expect to find in a bottle. Superb. |
