The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru includes around 35% whole clusters, raised in 20% new oak (this cuvée was racked just before my visit). The nose shows just a slight reduction, but underneath there is pretty brambly black fruit mixed with black olive tapenade. (all destemmed): Medium red. Complex if reticent aromas of redcurrant, minerals, smoked meat and pepper. Sweet on entry, then quite firm in the middle, showing hints of candied fruit. The chewy, firm but ripe tannins really clamp down on the finish today. A distinctly intellectual calcaire style of wine.In Bond€1,605.00 -

The 2015 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru has a ripe, earthy, mushroom-tinged bouquet with plenty of red fruit, slightly savory in style. The palate is well balanced and full in the mouth. This is a voluminous and prodigious Corton but manages to retain fine balance, with satisfying purity and tension on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. In Bond€1,450.00 -

The 2016 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru is reduced on the nose, although it should blow off with time to reveal the blackberry, raspberry and marine scents underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, saturated tannins and well judged acidity. Whilst it does not quite deliver the complexity I would have liked, it has a velvety sheen and a caressing finish. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. In Bond€922.00 -
(6x75cl) 2017Vinous (92-94)
The 2017 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru includes 40% whole bunches with around two-thirds new oak. It has a lively bouquet of blackberry, briar, hints of cassis and an almost pastille-like purity. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded but quite firm tannin that lends this Corton-Renardes good backbone. This really fills the mouth, and I find a little more precision here compared to the Charmes-Chambertin tasted directly before, along with impressive mineralité. A 2017 for Burgundy purists. In Bond€1,190.00 -
Vinous (91)
The 2018 Corton-Renardes Grand Cru showed a slight reduction on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, quite firm and masculine, with crisp tannins and dried blood and black pepper toward the finish. Grippy and quite savory at the moment, this is a robust Corton-Renardes that will require bottle age to shave its corners. A bit "rough" and needs to manifest more refinement. In Bond€161.00 -

The 2018 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots is a mix of Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits Saint-Georges fruit, and it had been racked two weeks prior to my visit in December. It has a pretty raspberry and cranberry bouquet, floral in style, with subtle vanilla notes emerging with time; you cannot detect the 20% whole bunch. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit, and the whole bunch lends freshness and a subtle pepperiness toward the finish. Very fine.In Bond€241.00 -

A mix of fruit from Nuits-Saint-Georges and Chambolle-Musigny, now with Hautes-Côtes fruit to impart freshness, the 2020 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots has a slightly earthy, ash-tinged bouquet that takes time to unfold. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, touch of marmalade and quince with a fresh but not long finish. Fine.In Bond€176.00 -
