Vinous (92-94)The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru is one of the last vineyards Drouhin picked, and there is just a little bit of vinification intégrale used in this wine. It has quite a powerful bouquet of strawberry pastilles, raspberry and light rose petal aromas, quite pure and complex, deserving of this excellent Premier Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, beautiful pure cranberry and raspberry fruit and real race and vigor toward the structured finish. This is one of the best Petits Monts I have tasted this vintage. Five barrels produced. |

Vinous (89-91)The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru comes from a parcel that lies just above Richebourg and receives 50% whole bunch. Now this is one cru that comes across a little trop on the nose, displaying a soupçon of volatility. The palate is sweet on the entry with dark cherries, loganberry and sea salt notes. Lush and powerful, though missing a bit of finesse and precision on the finish. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru, which until now I did not realize is owned by Véronique Drouhin-Boss personally, includes 40% whole cluster. It has a wonderful bouquet of violet-infused red plum and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Full of tension and energy with good grip toward the sensual finish. Excellent. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)Bright deep purple with lots of glycerol legs. 40-45% whole bunch vinification. It does show but under cover, then a few more tannins and the drier patch which goes with whole bunch vinification. But what a sensational quality of fruit, the strawberries are dancing over the palate. Very precise and very persistent. Drink from 2032-2039. Tasted Nov 2024. |

Jancis Robinson (17)Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Stunning red-fruited perfume here. Floral and fruity in the extreme. Fine and finely chewy tannins, scented on the palate, with the dry character that it is hard to get in combination with this scentedness outside of the Côte d’Or. Pure, pretty but with depth as well. Long and moreish with the freshness to balance. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)5*s Glowing purple with a beautifully lively heady intense but balanced hits the front of the palate full on and continues very well, all red fruit with a good cut of acidity, a touch of wood tannin. Promising stuff. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)An attractive mid crimson colour. A fine fresh bouquet, elegant fruit, not too demonstrative, but with a graceful detailed red fruit, alpine strawberry and little raspberry notes. Very nicely put together, all about the fruit more than the structure. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted: November 2023. |

Vinous (86)The 2020 Marsannay Village has an intense black cherry and cassis-scented bouquet. The palate is framed by dense tannins, a structured Marsannay though it manages to retain an essence of balance on the finish. Afford this 2-3 years in bottle. |

Vinous (85-87)The 2021 Marsannay Village, a blend of several parcels, offers ripe black cherries, bilberry and violet scents that unfurl with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, black cherry and boysenberry fruit. Quite concentrated in context of the vintage with a bit of sinew on the finish. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)A slightly less intense but pretty purple, some whole bunches here. They also stretch out the fruit across the palate beautifully. This is a very deft Chambolle with plenty of nuance, extremely floral, and with a graceful structure. Tasted: November 2021 |

Vinous (89-91)The 2019 Bourgogne Pressonnier is cohesive on the nose of blackberry, boysenberry jam and light violet aromas unfurling with time. Silky-smooth on the entry (you might well mistake this for a Vosne-Romanée), building nicely in the mouth and showing good salinity on the finish. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2007 Charmes-Chambertin Tres Vieilles Vignes is in a class by itself for the Roty collection of this vintage, or indeed of the combined 2007 and 2008 collections. Liqueur-like rich black raspberry, cassis, and dark cherry are backed by marrowy meat stock and laced with black tea, licorice, cocoa powder, and tamarind. This positively sticks to the gums in a sumptuous yet buoyant and downright refreshing finish. Given its present generosity at nearly one year of bottle age, I expect this to put on a great show continuously over the next 12-15 years. |
