The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. This displays exquisite balanced, a little tight on the finish but it is supremely well focused with a very persistent, lightly peppered finish courtesy of the 20% whole bunches. Wonderful. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2021 Echézeaux Grand Cru saw some protection with candles in the vineyard during frost, though still there was partial loss. The nose opens with redcurrant and light blueberry scents, a touch of incense. The 30% stems is neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with fine grip, quite taut and linear, chalky, building towards quite a tensile finish though maybe without quite the sustain of the very best examples from this Grand Cru. Yet it is still a very capable Echézeaux that will deliver the goods for 15 to 20 years. |
