Vinous - Neal Martin (92-94)The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Porrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru had been racked the previous week, but it was essentially the final wine I tasted as it was just about to be bottled. It has a stricter and more backward bouquet than the Chênes Carteaux: blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, the 20% new oak neatly folded in. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, leaning more towards black fruit laced with tar and tobacco. Quite Morey-like towards the finish with impressive persistence. Give this two or three years in bottle to shave the edges. Very fine. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)Racked to tank in October, to bottle in December. Deep purple. The bouquet is certainly a rich expression of pinot fruit without being over-ripe. Very full on the palate yet with energy through adequate acidity. Excellent balance and persistence. A fresh classic. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2024. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)Racked to tank. Chaignots enjoyed a slightly better yield at just above 25 hl/ha, because there was more juice in the grapes. Full rich purple. The nose has similar basic characteristics of ripe fruit but is not too concentrated. Very good depth thereafter, and as with all the wines here the fruit is that little bit fresher on the palate than the nose. Good acidity at the finish. 14.2% alcohol. Tasted: November 2021 |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92)Medium deep crimson colour. The nose shows an assured ripeness of red berry fruit, supported by a little new oak (20%). Very pretty and quite floral on the nose, yet much more solid red fruit weight on the palate, with a little vanilla from the oak playing at the edges. Good length. Drink from 2026-2031. |

Jancis Robinson (17)Deepish cherry red. Ripe, sweet, dark fruit, more damson than red fruit. Sweetly ripe with a dash of spice. Finest of tannin texture bringing elegance to the dark fruit. |

Vinous (92)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has an elegant bouquet of pure dark cherries and light loamy aromas; there is an admirable sense of cohesion here. The palate is fine-boned with impressive focus, the predominantly red fruit lightly spiced (clove and sage), and an energetic and persistent finish. This is showing promise. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (93)The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a simple nose with redcurrant and blueberry fruit and a light marine influence in the background, though it is not the most complex. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins. I appreciate the fluidity of this wine, its poise and depth towards the finish and the brightness throughout. An accomplished 2021 that will give a lot of pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)Rich purple. Very oaky on the nose, but note that this is still in wood, unracked. Sample taken from all barrels. Sturdy stuff, very Nuits-St-Georges with plums and a little suggestion of a peachier aspect, gourmand and juicy, yet with a fine clean structure at the back. I like this more and more as it progresses across the palate. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2024. |

Vinous (92)The 1995 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a fleshy and (for Gouges) quite a corpulent bouquet with bergamot and crushed rose petals. This remains exuberant, especially juxtaposed against the 1996 Clos des Porrets. The palate is fleshy and rounded with plenty of dark berry fruit laced with brine and clove. There is impressive persistence to this Les Saint-Georges, one of the domains finest of the decade. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-94)Deep red-ruby. Deep but reticent aromas of noteworthy complexity: dark berries, minerals, roast meat and truffle. Big, broad, sweet and filled in; a seamless wine of grand cru volume. One senses the wine's minerality in its structure more than its flavors. Finishes very long and suave, with strong tannins perfectly buffered by middle-palate richness. This will be bottled in March with about 12.9% alcohol. |

Vinous (94+)Saturated ruby-red. Explosive, multidimensional nose offers raspberry, dark cherries macerated in alcohol, minerals and leather, with a treble note of citrus skin. Like liquid silk in the mouth; already shows its great depth, but the highly complex, soil-inflected flavors of black raspberry, dark chocolate, leather and fresh blood are still youthfully reserved. Most impressive today on the remarkably sappy, precise finish, which builds slowly and subtly and is given even greater penetration and grip by a suggestion of grapefruit. I could drink this wine every night of the week-and probably for the next two decades. |

Vinous (92-94)Bright red. Ripe, musky aromas of red berries, minerals and rust. Suave and creamy-sweet in the mouth, with an almost jammy ripeness but also very good framing acidity to the crunchy red berry flavors. Perhaps a bit youthfully disassociated at present, not to mention firmly tannic on the back end, yet this is easier to taste today than the Vaucrains owing to its sheer sex appeal. Offers superb potential. |
