Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru offers ripe raspberry and blackcurrant scents on the nose. It has fine presence and detail, with the oak neatly enmeshed and delineated. With time, it develops minty aromas that are excess to requirements. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and ripe red berry fruit, with just the faintest green edge, which dovetails into a peppery but nicely controlled finish. Quite an alluring Clos de Vougeot. I would afford this a year or two in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)A deep ruby purple. Powerful dense red fruit without detail as yet. Solid, concentrated, four-square, with no shortage of fruit, and a few tannins completing the muscular structure. Perhaps not quite as persistent as the best in the cellar. Drink from 2031-2037. Tasted Oct 2024. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)Exceptionally concentrated, indeed super saturated purple, with massive weight on the nose. There is also a huge weight of fruit to the back of the palate. While the wine from En Orveaux lacks the dainty detail which Echezeaux can have, it offers graceful muscle instead. |

Burghound (94)A deft touch of wood sets off markedly spicy aromas of dark berry fruit coulis, sandalwood and exotic tea. The nicely concentrated and quite stylish flavors are at once caressing but punchy with a lovely texture on the balanced and lingering finish that flashes a touch of austerity. This too could use better depth, but more will almost certainly develop in time given the quality of the underlying material. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Echezeaux Grand Cru is powerful yet not fully developed. There's good energy throughout, that much is evident, but the mid-palate needs to fill out a bit more. It will be interesting to see if that happens in bottle, as the wine I tasted was at the end of its elevage in barrel. Dark red fruit, gravel, spice, leather and game lend quite a bit of darkness to this Echezeaux, which emerges from a parcel in La Combe d'Orveau. - Antonio Galloni |

Wine Advocate (95)One of the high points of the range is the 2018 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, a striking wine that exhibits scents of cassis, forest floor, wild berries, dark chocolate, warm spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping but also beautifully defined, with a bright spine of acidity, it's concentrated and penetrating. |

Wine Advocate (94)Invariably a highlight of the portfolio, Boillot's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets derives from a low-yielding 60-are parcel of 55-year-old vines. Unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild berries, plums, raw cocoa and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its concentrated core of vibrant fruit underlined by succulent acids and framed by chalky tannins. This is a brilliant wine that's worth a special effort to seek out. |

Medium to full-bodied, bright and lively, it's sapid and concentrated, with refined tannins and a long, saline finish. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)Even more intense purple than the Chevrets with a theme of intense brilliance and zest through the middle. The wood shows a bit at the moment though he has used less in his red wines this year. Will settle down. Just a touch soapy at the moment, but all the indications are of a grand vin. Sweet ripe cherries with a good thread of acidity. Tasted: 10/1/2021 |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)A darker crimson colour, and the fruit too has added a darker note. Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-93)Bright red-ruby. Rather brooding aromas of cassis, blackberry, smoke and licorice are pure and discreet. Surprisingly rich on entry, then lush and seamless in the middle, but with very good acidity framing and lifting the black fruit and game flavors. The powerful, rising finish features building tannins and a distinct thick-skinned character. The old vines in Boillot's parcel were strongly affected by millerandage, which largely explains this wine's extra measure of texture and concentration. Boillot noted that his 2011s generally have 3.8 to 4 grams per liter of acidity following the malos, which is quite healthy for the vintage. |

Vinous (91)(from four different ages of vines ranging from 40 to 90 years old; Boillot's Santenots comes from younger vines): Full medium red. Brooding aromas of blueberry, blackberry and menthol; lots of tiny millerandé berries here. Silky and saline on the palate; deeper than the Santenots but showing less sex appeal and early juiciness to its flavors of dark berries, spices and menthol. But this is chewier and more concentrated and a bit more important on the finish. |

Vinous (91-93)(from four parcels of vines between 40 and 60 years of age; fruit in the lower section of the vineyard was wiped out by the frost): Healthy medium red. Slightly reduced nose conveys and medicinal dark raspberry aroma. Then fine-grained and graceful in the mouth, conveying an impression of delicacy to the flavors of raspberry, currant and flowers. Finishes quite suave and long, with very refined tannins. The Boillots made just 10 barrels in place of a normal 30, 3 of them new. |

Vinous (93)The 2017 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has an open-knit, well-defined bouquet of brambly red berry fruit and discreet wilted rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, quite grippy and a little drier than its peers, with a slightly bitter, granular finish. It meliorates in the glass and leaves a pleasant spicy aftertaste. Excellent. Wine Advocate (92)The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Chevrets is showing beautifully, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, rose petals, cassis and violets. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with an ample chassis of powdery tannins, fine concentration and succulent acids. From a parcel of 58-year-old vines, this is a quintessentially elegant Volnay that should also drink well young. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-96)An emperor would be pleased with the intensity of this purple robe. The fruit is the most concentrated to date, and picked at the perfect time. Heady, intense, perfectly judged raspberry. This is spectacular. Not over the top, ripe tannins, just the right point of acidity, and excellent persistence. Guillaume speaks of delicacy and I can see what he means despite the Boillot style which is too intense to be designated delicate. Tasted: 10/1/2021 |
