The palate is medium-bodied, but there is much more body and presence here compared to the Bonnes-Mares: fine tannin, just the right amount of salinité with a complex and sustained finish. This Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2011 has a ripe bouquet, even though there is a touch of reduction, the oak lending light chocolate scents toward the red fruit that appear to ebb away in the glass and flow back with more maritime aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite succulent and fleshy tannins. The oak is pronounced here and feels a little dominant on the finish, although there is good weight and a pleasant spicy aftertaste.
