A notably spicy and appealingly layered nose combines notes of various dark berries and earth with those of soft floral and smoked meat. 40% whole bunch vinification. Dense rich purple. The nose is startlingly fine in rich dark raspberry fruit. Les St-Georges was hailed on which seems just to concentrate the wine. A massive wealth of fruit, drier at the back than the super saturated front, but that will come better into focus by the end of the elevage. Very promising. A light coffee note? Drink from 2032-2040. Three tanks were made, two destemmed and the third with 70% stems, averaging out to 20% approximately, with tanks of differing sizes. A medium deep crimson ruby. Very appealing on the nose, neither too ripe nor too concentrated, and the red and black fruit on the palate is livened up by a surprising salinity – squid ink suggests Thibault, not a descriptor that really enthuses me, but I think this is going to be a first class Les St-Georges.
