Deep, dark red. Reserved nose offers medicinal black cherry and minerals. Powerful, tactile and penetrating, with sappy black cherry, menthol and mineral flavors that really saturate the palate. (6x75cl) 2013Vinous (94)
Bright, deep red. An alluring basket of fruits on the nose, complicated by scents of licorice, smoke and underbrush. Seamless and refined in texture, boasting a superb balance of sweetness and acidity. Great purity and incipient complexity to the flavors of berries, red cherry, minerals and earth. This classic 2013 finishes with superb building length. Elegant for such a big boy, this very young grand cru should deepen in the bottle for years.Inc. TAX€2,386.54 -
(1x75cl) 2014Wine Advocate (92-94)
The 2014 Corton Clos Rognet Grand Cru, which has been part of the domaine since the 1930s and according to Jean-Nicolas Méo was picked a little earlier than usual, has a detailed and mineral-driven bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and minerally, fine definition with a sustained, lightly spiced finish. Vibrant and tensile, this is a superb offering from the domaine and is highly recommended.Inc. TAX€479.95 -
(1x75cl) 2018Vinous (90-92)
The 2018 Corton Clos Rognet Grand Cru is deep in color and sports a more opulent and dense bouquet than the Corton-Perrières; the black cherry, cassis and violet aromas are very seductive and generous at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, quite saturated tannins, and sweet and candied in style, offering dark cherries and allspice toward the finish. Fine.Inc. TAX€422.04 -

(from a .45 ha parcel of 80+ year old vines). Elegant, pure and airy aromas are comprised by spiced red cherry, plum and hints of warm earth, smoked game and pretty spice wisps. The nicely intense medium-bodied flavors are shaped by polished tannins and excellent verve while displaying good focus on the dusty, muscular, more structured and focused finish where the only reproach is a mild touch of warmth. As is usually the case, there is just a bit more overall depth here compared to its two Corton stablemates. (92-94)/2034+Inc. TAX€433.00 -

(this fruit was picked later than the Vigne au Saint and was vinified with 10% whole clusters): Bright red with ruby tones. Distinctly wilder on the nose than the Vigne au Saint, offering scents of cherry, raspberry and animal fur. At once juicier and deeper, displaying terrific flavor intensity and inner-mouth perfume but kept tight by sound underlying minerality. Méo finds this wine less strict than usual but it will still need at least four or five years of aging upon release.Inc. TAX€1,860.86 -
(3x75cl) 2017Vinous (92-94)
The 2017 Corton-Perrières Grand Cru has quite a punchy nose, one that wants to be noticed, offering copious dark cherry, wild strawberry and bergamot aromas and becoming ever more floral with aeration. The medium-bodied palate is quite sweet, featuring a touch of fig confit on the entry and candied orange peel lacing the vibrant red fruit. The 10% stem addition lends a little spice on the finish. This is perhaps more expressive than previous vintages I have encountered at this stage in the past.Inc. TAX€1,110.37 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
A little dark centre here with concentrated fruit on the nose, and a glossiness partly from the oak. A touch of reduction or maybe the 10% stems which have been added back. This is quite severe at the back: this time the stems are to give flesh, by improving the entry on the palate.Inc. TAX€1,616.63 -

Rich dark purple, with an evidently ripe nose at 14.3%. The cherries may eb on the richer side but they are not cooked. The wine is staying in very good shape because this vineyard always delivers a mineral crunch at the back. A lovely wine which holds its own here very well. I think the best he has made. (1x75cl) 2009Wine Advocate (92-95)
The 2009 Echezeaux flows across the palate with layers of gracious, elegant fruit. It is a supremely silky wine with plenty of intensity but no heaviness whatsoever. This is classy and refined all the way. Meo’s parcel is in Le Rouge du Bas. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.Inc. TAX€927.52 -

Vinous (91-93)
The 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a crisp, quite pure bouquet with a mixture of red and blue fruit, a touch of violet, maybe just a bit pinched at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy opening, quite chewy compared to others and at the moment, this just attenuates a little on the finish. I need to be more convinced by this cuvée, at the moment, surpassed by their top-notch Premier Crus.Inc. TAX€759.08 -
(1x75cl) 2014Vinous (88-90)
Bright, dark red. Red soil aromas of redcurrant, rust and minerals. Linear and upright, even a bit youthfully austere, but with attractively sweet red fruit flavors backed up by a firm mineral spine. The yield here was a low 25 hectoliters per hectare. (Méo's Pommard, from a single hail-affected source in 2014, was too reduced to assess in November. )Inc. TAX€176.35 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (90-93)
Black centre with purple rim. Jean-Nicolas finds this both upright and gourmand, a combination he likes. Flirts with 14% and stays on side. Super ripe cherries as part of the nose, kicks on really well on the palate with this high acidity which brings out the red fruit notes in fruit which otherwise wants to be richer. Long finish, and in the end the balance works well. Will need time. Tasted: December 2021Inc. TAX€112.44
