The 2017 Beaune Cras 1er Cru has a lovely, almost enveloping bouquet of macerated red cherries, raspberry and hoisin aromas that are perhaps the most expressive of Jadot’s seven Beaunes that I tasted out of barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy, quite generous opening and plenty of red plum, strawberry and light marmalade notes. There is a little sinew to the Beaune Cras, exerting an insistent grip toward the persistent finish. This is another very fine Beaune from Jadot.Inc. TAX€445.26 -

To be honest, if I had this blind, I would not have said there is stems in this blend, which I see as a good thing. The not so good news is that the 2009 remains very tightly wound and in need of further cellaring. The aromatics are just starting to open up, but the tannins remain quite fierce. Readers who own the 2009 should be prepared to cellar it for at least a few years. There is an effortlessness to the 2009 that is hard to describe, but that gives the wine its sense of impeccable balance. Hints of sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, dried herbs and cherry add the closing shades of aromatic nuance to this gorgeous, compelling Beaune from Jadot. The 2009 is a blend of 17 different sites.Inc.
