Mid crimson. Scented and heady. Super charming. On the nose it’s almost Oregonian! But on the palate there is Burgundian structure. Still a clear framework and ambition; this is not a slack Charmes. Well done for espousing grand cru quality. Needs food if you want to drink it now. But just about ready.Inc. TAX€2,714.77 -
Wine Advocate (92)
Drouhin's 2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe cherry and berry fruit that mingle with nuances of espresso, dried flowers and grilled meats, all framed by some toasty new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a sappy core of nicely concentrated fruit, fine tannins and bright balancing acids. This is an elegant, racy Charmes-Chambertin that is somewhat reminiscent of the 2010 rendition.Inc. TAX€1,231.68 -
Wine Advocate (90-92)
The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru exhibits aromas of red cherries, potpourri, citrus rind and creamy new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and expressive, with an exuberant core of succulent, mouthwatering fruit that largely conceals a fine-grained framing of tannin. Giving and fruit-driven, this will drink well in its youth.Inc. TAX€1,561.68 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru comes from contracted fruit sourced from the lieu-dit of Aux Charmes. Deep and noticeably limpid in color, it has a gorgeous, pure and sensual bouquet that shows more composure than the Corton Grand Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins and more backbone than the Corton. The lively, spicy, black pepper-tinged finish lingers in the mouth. Excellent.Inc. TAX€519.19 -

Wine Advocate (94)
Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Drouhin's 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a wine that I might have underestimated from barrel, or perhaps it has just blossomed in bottle. It has a conservative bouquet that needs coaxing from the glass: red cherries, strawberry, scorched earth and just a touch of vanilla from the residual new oak waiting to be subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with finely tuned tannin and bright red fruit, tensile and poised with a taut, quite linear finish that has class and refinement. This was one of the best in the flight of Clos de Vougeot, and I scored this even higher than Etienne Grivot's. Tasted September 2017.Inc. TAX€1,354.38 -
Burghound (95)
A very ripe nose features notes of plum, cassis, humus, forest floor and violet. The velvet-textured, concentrated and very serious big-bodied flavors possess seemingly endless reserves of sappy dry extract which helps to buffer the very firm tannic spine on the mocha-infused finish. This beautifully complex effort is less austere than it usually is at this point though the structure makes it pointedly clear that this is going to age for a very long time.Inc. TAX€1,441.68 -
James Suckling (96)
This is a Clos de Vougeot with a dense and velvety texture that shows richness and structured. Yet, there is a friendliness and polish to the palate. Hazelnut and cream undertones. Reserved and almost shy at this point. Savory and flavorful. Drink in 2021.Inc. TAX€859.68 -
Vinous (94)
The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a well-defined, quite floral bouquet of red currant, cranberry and light stony aromas, displaying pleasing transparency despite a very small reduction. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fleshy and nicely poised, with a finessed, detailed, precise finish. Understated, yet there is intensity here. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.Inc. TAX€950.88 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-97)
Full ripe purple with a classy lively nose. Purity and precision, this is really smart wine, as it has been produced just from their better block. Racy and fresh, 30% whole bunch vinification has worked very well. Excellent length.Inc. TAX€481.36 -

Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Two parcels, one close to the tower and one at the bottom which they keep separate for quite a while. In hot, dry years such as 2019 and 2020 the bottom bit does very well because it retains moisture. 20% bought in. Final blend in tank, to be bottled by mid February 2021. Refined, high-toned nose with a meaty undertow. Then a notably sweet palate attack and quite chunky and forceful. Some whole-bunch influence. Clearly a grand cru. Still youthful with a lightly spicy nose. Lots of energy.Inc. TAX€989.99 -

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a cohesive bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed stone, sous-bois and a pleasing sense of transparency. Lovely. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, brisk and saline in the mouth, focused with a tangible build to the structured finish. This is a well-crafted Clos de Vougeot that should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.Inc. TAX€1,876.54 -
