  • Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1993 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (98)

The 1993 Vosne-Romanée Cros-Parantoux 1er Cru was purchased off the list at La Gavroche in Mayfair, initially bought on release by Albert Roux at some incomprehensible small sum. I have been lucky enough to have this vintage two or three times now, since first my first encounter in January 2016. This bottle is almost exactly the same as the last, which is unsurprising. It has a very intense bouquet that is so perfumed and intoxicating that your senses are immediately seduced – predominantly red fruit, mulberry and pressed flowers, perhaps this a touch more violet than iris. The palate has a satin-like texture, mineral-driven and, perhaps, less understated than many 1993 red Burgundies are these days. The finish has a sense of piquancy and displays exquisite delineation, not to mention extraordinary length. To taste this wine once was a privilege. Twice makes me almost feel guilty…almost.
  • Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1995 (1x300cl)

Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1995 is a testament to the mastery of one of Burgundy's most esteemed producers. Harvested from a mere 1.01-hectare plot in the legendary Cros Parantoux vineyard, this wine captures the essence of its terroir with unmatched vivacity. Rooted in 50-year-old vines and cultivated using Henri Jayer's meticulous, non-interventionist methods, the fruit yields a wine of exceptional depth, complexity and longevity. A symbol of remarkable viticultural lineage, the 1995 vintage reveals nuances of dark fruits, exotic spices, and earthy undertones. The palate is endowed with profound structure, delivering a sublime, lingering finish. Aged in French oak barrels, the wine's superb balance of tannin and acidity ensures its veneration in any collection. Such is the prestige of the Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1995, imbuing every sip with its majestic Bourgignon heritage.

  • Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1996 (1x150cl)

The Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1996 is a lustrous gem from Burgundy's illustrious 'Golden Slope'. Created by legendary winemaker, the late Henri Jayer, this vintage is epitomised by its sumptuous complexity. Noteworthy for its exceptionally limited production, this Pinot Noir radiates a mix of raspberry and blackcurrant, playfully balanced by hints of earthy spice and smoky nuances.

Aged meticulously in well-seasoned oak casks, this exquisite wine accentuates the profundity of the longing, velvety finish. An ambitious cultivator, Jayer was renowned for his rigorous grape selection, minimal intervention philosophy, and a distinctive, non-filtering process. He meticulously tended to a mere 1.41 hectares of mid-slope vineyards at Cros Parantoux, in the esteemed commune of Vosne-Romanee.

A Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Cros Parantoux 1996 is synonymous with the absolute zenith of French viniculture and a beacon of Jayer's remarkable viticultural legacy.
