The fruit is a little darker, more raspberry than cherry, and there will soon be the lightest of chocolate notes. At this level the whole bunch clouds just add a nuance. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées has a more broody and introspective bouquet compared to the 2013 Malconsorts from Bichot, although it has its own virtues, bestowed with gorgeous dark plum and cranberry scents, again a touch of dried rose petal lending a kind of femininity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red cherry and cranberry fruit, nicely structured with a fine line of acidity. This could be his best Brûlées yet and that is really saying a very great deal. Sensational texture, unexaggerated fruit, just joyous and gorgeous. Grace personified. This has remarkable tension on the palate and is almost as nuanced as an Echezeaux (at least as, Jean-Pierre thinks!). Certainly there is a gorgeous, almost glossy aftertaste. Highest pH.
