The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru seems to have been born to embarrass my rather tepid reaction to this wine from barrel. Wow! This has me smitten. It offers a very floral, seductive bouquet with pressed violet petals liberally scattered over the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, and just a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on the finish. Excellent. (50% vendange entier; bottled in June of 2011, the last '09 to be bottled because this cuvee, says Tremblay, always needs longer elevage to integrate its tannins): Good bright medium red. Bright red-ruby. Very pure, perfumed aromas and flavors of blackberry, boysenberry, minerals, violet and cocoa powder. Sappy and tightly wound, conveying a powerful impression of vinosity thanks to its pungent minerality. The pH here of 3. 45 is the lowest in the cellar in 2014. Indeed, this wine shows a distinctly cool quality in the context of the vintage, and finishes with excellent chewy length. (1x75cl) 2010Vinous (89-92)
Good bright red-ruby. Good lift to the aroma of black fruits and violet. Dense, juicy and savory, with a distinctly dark cast to the nicely concentrated flavors of black fruits and violet. Solidly structured, chewy wine with a long, saline aftertaste. Tremblay noted that Vosne-Romanee had considerably less rain in early September than did Chambolle. In Bond€851.00 -

(50% vendange entier; bottled in June of 2011, the last '09 to be bottled because this cuvee, says Tremblay, always needs longer elevage to integrate its tannins): Good bright medium red. Serious but discreet nose hints at dark raspberry, licorice and minerals. Concentrated, spicy and minerally but in a rather restrained stage today. Very rich and deep for village wine but will need some time in bottle to absorb some of its substantial ripe, dusty tannins and gain in definition. In Bond€6,395.00 -

Hailing from a deep-rooted wine heritage in the prestigious Vosne Romanee region of Burgundy, France, Cecile Tremblay impeccably handcrafts her noble Pinot Noir wines. Reputed as one of the top female winemakers, Tremblay honours her great-grandfather's organic principles, bestowed by the revered Henri Jayer.
Unveiling a captivating translucent garnet hue, the 2006 vintage seduces the senses with enchanting fragrances of ripe cherries, tantalising truffles and whispers of silky vanilla. The palate unravels an intricate lacework of polished tannins and bright acidity, culminating in an achingly long, resonant finish. Compiled from old vines ('Vieilles Vignes' or 'VV'), the limited yield ensures a depth of flavour and intensity that's intoxicating.
Perfectly cellared, Cecile Tremblay Vosne Romanee VV 2006 is a testament to the illustrious legacy of Burgundy winemaking—a sovereign in your collection.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges du Dessus 1er Cru is showing some oak on the nose, although there is sufficient fruit to support that. This seems to gain purity and delineation in the glass. The well-balanced palate is fleshy, ripe, and quite sweet and tart, with red cherries, blood orange and a citrus element on the silky-smooth finish. This might not be long-term, but it is very well crafted, sensual and alluring. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. In Bond€869.00 -

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges du Dessus 1er Cru has a clean and fresh bouquet with perfumed Morello and strawberry shortcake aromas, all well defined. Exuberant is the word that comes to mind. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins that frame a sweet, confit-like core of red fruit with hints of marmalade and blood orange towards the seductive finish. Very fine, but a Vosne-Romanée I might broach in the more immediate term. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. In Bond€857.00 -

Tremblay told me that the 2008 version of this wine was paired by a chef with a tuna dish during a trip to Tokyo and that the combination was perfect. In Bond€4,560.00 -

The 2012 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouge du Dessus is arguably the hidden jewel in Cecile Tremblay's lineup. Layers of deeply spiced dark fruit jump from the glass in a wine of extraordinary purity. The brush strokes are broad in a wine with massive tannins and equally rich fruit. All the 2012 needs is time. Today it is embryonic, but dazzling all the same. The 2012 was vinified with 70% whole clusters. In Bond€4,260.00
