A restrained but still wonderfully spicy nose consists of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, lavender and black cherry liqueur. The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. Moderately saturated dark red. A bit lower-pitched than the Chambolle, with liqueur-like berry aromas complicated by mocha and earth notes. Ripe, plush and sweet, conveying more weight and texture but less energy and definition than the Chambolle, with its red and darker berry flavors complemented by suggestion of coffee. Boasts good material but could use a bit more nuance and grip. The present but initially very supple tannins turn dustier with air. This wine is the lowest in acidity of the 2015s I tasted chez Tardy, at 3.5 grams per liter; most of the other '15s are around 3.8, with the Echézeaux at 3.9.Inc. TAX€125.95 -

Medium red. Fresh, minerally aromas of blackberry, dark plum, licorice and bitter chocolate. At once creamy and gripping in the mouth, with a liqueur-like ripeness nicely buffered by mineral energy. Conveys a lighter touch than most of these 2009s. The long finish shows fine-grained tannins. Really spreads out on the end to saturate the palate. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-sculpted tannins. There is unerring symmetry here and whilst it may miss a bit of substance on the finish, this may well be addressed by the time it finishes its élevage. Superb. In Bond€769.00 -
Decanter (95)
Always one of my favourite Vosne premiers crus from Mathilde and Etienne Grivot, this textured, stylish, deftly oaked red has all the most appealing features of the 2017 vintage, with lots of sumptuous, summer-pudding fruit, filigree tannins and a foundation of acidity. It's deceptively forward, as this has the minerality and focus to age.In Bond€1,375.00 -
Wine Advocate (95-97)
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots has an exquisite bouquet, extremely pure with scents of redcurrant, blueberry, violets, cola and wet limestone. Like the 2015 Les Beaux Monts, there is wondrous focus and precision here. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin. This is full of energy and tension, with a killer line of acidity and wonderful structure and precision towards the mineral-rich finish. It will require several years in bottle, but it has the substance and complexity to repay patience. In Bond€370.00
