Vinous (94-96)The 2019 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a rich and generous bouquet with blueberry and black cherry aromas, the most extravagant of Bruno Clair’s wines this year. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins, very poised and focused with a mineral-driven finish that lingers in the mouth. Lovely strictness on the finish counterbalances the precocity on the nose. |

Vinous (95-97)The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is surprisingly backward on the nose with tightly-wound blackberry, redcurrant and cranberry fruit with sea spray and light pine cone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy redcurrant and strawberry fruit. This is a solid Bonnes-Mares, correct, not flashy but serious and as such, it deserves several years in bottle. It has the substance and complexity to reward those with patience. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (97)The 2021 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is beguiling on the nose with pure beautifully defined red fruit that soars from the glass. Real sophistication and utterly absorbing. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins very focused and harmonious. Precise, complex, engaging hints of Earl Grey infuse the red fruit on the finish that is so refined. Complete class. Precision, precision, precision. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous (96-98)The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a delightful, charming bouquet with a mixture of blackberry and blueberry fruit, pressed violets and iris flowers, and wonderful mineralité. The medium-bodied palate has grainy tannins. It’s very saline in the mouth, with a hint of licorice in the background. Very elegant and stylish, this lovely Bonnes-Mares has a long future ahead. Sublime. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (95-97)The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with black cherries, wild strawberries and light loamy aromas coming through with aeration. It is maybe a little Musigny-like. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and gentle grip, slightly peppery in style with a persistent, quite saline finish. Without a doubt, this is a fabulous Bonnes-Mares with great potential. It may very well land at the top of my banded score. |

Wine Advocate (90-92)The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Combe d'Orveaux was just a little reduced on the nose when we met at the domaine. Like the Noirots, this is holding something back. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit; there is mouth-sapping salinity here and it is delineated with good tension, gently building towards a lightly grippy finish. Once the aromatics awaken, this will be a lovely Chambolle Musigny, even if it is a bit of a broody bugger out of barrel. |

Clair Dau Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 1978 is a mature red from France’s Burgundy, sourced from the Bonnes Mares Grand Cru terroir. In this late-1970s vintage, extended bottle age is the defining feature: expect tertiary complexity rather than primary fruit, with savoury, sous-bois nuances, dried rose, game, tea leaf and truffle notes, and a palate shaped by softened tannins and gentle, lingering acidity. Production details for this bottling are not consistently documented in globally recognised reference sources, so we avoid speculation regarding cépage, élevage, or specific vineyard practice. What can be stated with confidence is that Bonnes Mares is celebrated for delivering structure allied to aromatic finesse, and 1978 has entered its fully evolved phase. For collectors seeking authenticity and nuance, Clair Dau Bonnes Mares Grand Cru offers a rare opportunity to explore Grand Cru Burgundy at peak maturity. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (95)Bright ruby-red. Captivating aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, minerals, violet and blood orange. Silky-sweet, dense and thick, with sexy oak tones and compelling sugar/acid snap. Here the tannins are thoroughly buffered by the wine's strong material, with powerful minerality contributing to the impression of structure. In the past few vintages, Millet has taken the estate's Bonnes-Mares to another level. |

Jancis Robinson (19)Dark crimson. Brilliant energy and drive. Sharp and linear – I'm sure winemaker François Millet has a sonnet to describe the character of this wine – and bursting with fruit. Just starting to drink well. Extremely rich and sweet with some black cherry aspects to it. Very winning. Enjoyed at a dinner in the Adelaide Hills. Perhaps its journey across the equator had brought it on? |

Wine Advocate (94)De Vogue’s 2007 Bonnes Mares calls to mind sweet-tart black raspberry candies and herbal lozenges, along with notes of brown spices and smoky black tea. Rich, sedate, and provocatively sweet and perfumed, this manages simultaneously to preserve a saline savor and suggestion of lobster shell reduction that precludes anyone calling it a “fruit bomb.” The smoky and – for lack of a better covering term – “mineral” elements accompany this Bonnes Mares’ soothing finish all the way to its distant end. No doubt there is at least a decade’s worth of seduction and intrigue on hand, but here too, I would not hesitate to relish them significantly sooner. |

Wine Advocate (95)The 2008 Bonnes Mares is totally classy and elegant. It shows gorgeous inner liqueur-like sweetness, expressive aromatics and a rich, textured finish that is a marvel to behold. The sheer depth, density and incisiveness of the fruit is fabulous. Expressive floral notes round out the finish. This is very much an understated Bonnes Mares from de Vogue. Anticipated maturity: 2023-2048. |

Vinous (95+)Bright, deep red. Crushed blueberry, pomegranate, kirsch and licorice on the very fresh, perfumed nose, lifted by notes of lilac and peony. Suave and seamless on the palate, but with superb energy and lift to the flavors of cherry, purple fruits and spicy oak. Wonderfully juicy, sappy wine with a strong finishing note of blackberry, noble tannins and outstanding rising length. A brilliant Bonnes-Mares. |

Wine Advocate (95)The 2015 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru is really blossoming now that the wine is safely in bottle. It has a gorgeous, floral bouquet with scents of blueberry, blackberry and briary, wonderful mineral expression here with a palpable sense of energy and precision. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin, what you might call a cool Bonnes Mares, sleek and sensual with very fine tension towards the red cherry and kirsch tinged finish. What a gorgeous Bonnes-Mares, though I would be inclined to afford it several years in bottle. Tasted November 2016. |
