Robert Chevillon
Robert Chevillon's collection of Premier Cru and old-vine Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards make the scenery alone a reason to visit Burgundy. Bertrand and Denis are fifth generation managers and a fantastic team. Their wines in the cellar are celebrated for their impressive track record and consistently excellent.

Burghound (87-89)Decidedly ripe yet still quite fresh aromas are comprised by notes of red cherry liqueur and earth. The medium weight flavors are exceptionally rich compared to what is typical for wines at this level while possessing a caressing mouthfeel that contrasts only slightly with the mildly rustic and firm finish. This is an excellent Bourgogne and one that should even reward a few years of cellaring. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Bousselottes 1er Cru offers ripe black currant, raspberry and wilted rose petal aromas on the nose, hints of blue fruit emerging with aeration. The oak is nicely integrated here. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins that are slightly chalky in texture, like the Chaignots, though here there is more weight and backbone toward the finish. This is a little clipped at the moment but should gain length by the end of its élevage. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles wafts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cassis, plums, dark chocolate, grilled squab and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly layered and complete, it's muscular but refined, with a rich chassis of ripe tannin and an ample core of fruit, concluding with a long, perfumed finish. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières was showing especially well, mingling aromas of cassis and dark chocolate with savory nuances of loamy soil and grilled squab in an incipiently complex bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's lively and precise, with terrific tension despite the richness and power of the vintage. |

Vinous (92-94)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a very perfumed and floral bouquet with wilted rose petal and touches of lavender infusing the mainly red berry fruit. I appreciate the detail and delineation of this N.S.G. The palate is very fine and matched with a superb line of acidity, the lively red fruit laced with subtle hickory and white pepper notes, fanning out nicely toward the finish while maintaining superb freshness. This is perhaps the most immediately enjoyable of Chevillon’s 2018s. |

Wine Advocate (93-95)The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains is powerful and muscular, opening in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe wild blueberries, dark chocolate, rose petals, rich soil tones and smoked meats. Full-bodied, rich and muscular, it's deep and concentrated, with a serious chassis of ripe, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. As usual, this is the most powerful wine in the Chevillon cellar. |

Vinous (88-90)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Villages has a charming, vivid bouquet of ebullient red cherries and crushed strawberry fruit that bursts from the glass. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit on the entry. Quite glossy and sweet in style, with tart cherries and blueberry on the playful, energetic finish. Probably one for earlier drinking than, say, the 2015 or 2016 Nuit Saint-Georges Villages. |
