Paolo Scavino
Today the Paolo Scavino estate stretches to around 23 ha. All the vines are in Barolo and there are parcels in 19 different Crus. The estate was found in 1921 in Castiglione Falleto by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo. Enrico Scavino has been working in the winery since the age of ten (!), beginning in 1951. He now runs his estate with his daughters, who are the fourth generation. Changes for the 2016 vintage included oak vats for fermentation. Most of the Barolos are aged in a combination of small and large oak.

The 2010 Carobric is bright, aromatically lifted and gorgeous in its precision. Today the 2010 is an infant, but it has gorgeous intensity and length. All the elements are in the right place. This is one of the best vintages of Carobric I can recall tasting. As a reminder, Carobric is a blend of fruit from Cannubi, Rocche di Castiglione and Bric del Fiasc. |
