Henri Boillot
The Boillot family established themselves in the region in 1885, and Henri represents the fifth winemaking generation, with his son now overseeing the production of the reds.
The winery is located on the “other” side of the RN74 in an estate that includes the Damy cooperage. This impressive facility affords Henri far more space then if he were couched in some mediaeval maison in one of the villages, which is mandatory when you have such an all-embracing portfolio of wines.
Henri Boillot produces domaine and negociant wines from Burgandy’s most renowned growing areas. Henri is a 5th generation vigneron in the Cote d’Or. Wines of Maison Henri Boillot are produced in a cellar in Meursault and are vibrant and full of character.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)The first Boillot vintage of Clos Richemont, with planting from the 1970s on a very white limestone soil: sternly mineral, almost Puligny in style, suggests Guillaume. Lighter pale primrose, a very light toastiness on the nose. Striking energy at the back, a little bit of salinity, real energy too and very good length. Quite different from the other 1er crus, but offering the usual Boillot clarity and precision. A brilliant finish. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2022 Meursault Clos Richemont 1er Cru is a dense, opulent white built on texture more than anything else. It is one of the most overt wines in the Boillot range. Orange jam, spice, vanillin, lemon confit and baked apple tart infuse the 2022 with tons of textural intensity. This is such a distinctive wine. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-94)Pale primrose colour. Rather more elegant in bouquet than Poruzots, super fine, iodine and mineral as well as white fruit flesh, I like the balance of this wine more than the Poruzots. Very persistent with excellent tension. Long tight and classy. Tasted: 10/1/2021 |

Wine Advocate (92)Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières from Henri Boillot took time to unfold in the glass, but eventually reveals attractive lime flower, cold granite and yellow flower scents, later accompanied by acacia honey. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity. There is just the right amount of bitter lemon here that imparts tension from start to finish, leading to a composed finish with a salinity that begs another sip. Quite simply, a delicious Meursault. Tasted May 2016. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières reveals aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, peach, spring blossom, honeycomb and praline, followed by a medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated palate that's chalky and structured, built around lively acids and appreciable dry extract. |

Wine Advocate (93+)The 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has turned out nicely, mingling scents of honeyed pears, mandarin orange, paraffin wax, smoke and toasted nuts in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it's bright and chalky, with a long, penetrating finish. |

Decanter (94)Poruzots occupies a prime mid-slope location, sandwiched between Genevrières and Les Gouttes d’Or, with an exposition east and a bit north, which can only have helped in 2019. The result shows extremely lively citrus aromas, with almost tropical, exotic, up front tones and a bit of spice from the 50% new oak used for the maturation. The wine has breadth and substance, but there is plenty of fresh acidity that carries it to a long, persistent finish. |

Burghound (91)Sweet spot Outstanding Top value Notes of smoked hazelnut, poached pear and pretty acacia blossom scents introduce sleek, intense and beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate on the clean, focused, balanced and beautifully long finale. This could use a bit more depth but overall, this is a first-rate Meursault villages. |
