Robertson believes this 10th release of his stunning single-vineyard, high-altitude, late-ripening Syrah is the "most balanced to date", and critics agree. Scoring 95 points from the Wine Advocate's Luis Gutiérrez, and a huge 18/20 points from JancisRobinson.com's Ferran Centelles, Centelles says: "2018 has been the greatest year for this wine". Gutiérrez agrees that this "showy and exuberant" Syrah is "more in the style of Guigal than Clape".

The Dos Dedos de Frente 2018 comes from just 2ha of vines in Villarroya de la Sierra.  Planted in 2000, the vines grow on stony soils at 950m in altitude. Containing 5% of Viognier, the harvested grapes were chilled in a cool room for 48 hours before gentle crushing and cold maceration - this is done "to keep the freshness and tension" (WA). While it is juicy, rich and deep, this "should age nicely" (WA). With a humble price-point of only SG$33 per bottle IB, it will cellar to 2030. There are only 1,000 cases made.
