There seems to be an almost insatiable appetite for the “fairy-tale vintage” that is Brunello 2015.

We have been waiting for this release because Castiglion del Bosco is one of our favourite Montalcino estates and we knew they wouldn’t disappoint in a vintage like 2015.

Sure enough, the James Suckling score of 97 points is exceptional for a wine in this price category, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Castiglion del Bosco produces Brunellos of great purity and intensity. James Suckling praises the “silky tannins” and the “long and intense finish” of the 2015; and we feel like we can almost taste the wine already!

Producer

Castiglion del Bosco

Founded in 1954, Castiglion del Bosco was one of the founding members of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello. Now under new ownership, there has been major investment in the winery and in the vineyards, and the quality has been consistently on the up. Set in the Val d’Orcia National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site northwest of Montalcino, the estate is protected from the polluting factors of the urban world. The Capanna vineyard, where the grapes destined for their Brunello are grown, slope south/southwest towards the Tyrrhenian coast and it’s cooling sea breezes.
