The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers 1er Cru has quite a heavy reduction on the nose that makes it difficult to read, though subtle floral scents emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, wonderful structure and brimming with freshness. There is some oak to assimilate on the finish, but this should turn into Arlaud's finest Chambolle with 5-7 years on the clock.

Noticeably more depth of colour. The bouquet has a more sensual depth to it as well, typical of the appellation and showing grand cru status. This is in fact Mazoyères made as Charmes. There is nuance as well, though, in the bouquet, then a riper swathe of dark cherry and raspberry fruit on the palate, with well-defined tannins, a return of some oak, and good length. Drink from 2026-2032.

Once again there is a touch of crushed leaf character to the elegant, pure and airy red cherry and blue pinot fruit aromas where a hint of acacia blossom lurks in the background. There is good punch and mid-palate density to the solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that exhibit very fine power on the focused, muscular and quite serious finale. This lovely effort will definitely need at least some patience
